Mohamed Sathak Engineering College, Kilakarai, established in 1984 by the Mohamed Sathak Trust has the twin distinction of being the first self-financed and Muslim Minority Engineering College in Tamil Nadu.

The College is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, and offers 10 Undergraduate and 8 Postgraduate courses to over 2500 students. An ISO 9001:2000 certified institution it is Affiliated to Anna University, Trichy and the college has been accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA).

It is one of the few engineering colleges to offer a B.E. courses in Marine and Aeronautical Engineering, the latter being the first of its kind among self-financing engineering colleges. The B.E. Marine Engineering Degree is approved by the Director General of Shipping while the B Arch is approved by The Council of Architecture.
